Dreams

I am going to start to journal my dreams; I find them so fascinating. If you put together your dream symbols you can usually figure out what your subconscious is trying to tell you.

Last night I dreamt of an alligator and an empty house. The house was one that one of my best friends had just moved out of. So of course I consulted the “Dream Dictionary” to try to get an idea of what my brain was trying to tell me.

Actually, I dreamt two nights in a row of someone significant moving or leaving, I will look closely to this point.

Definition: Seeing a house in your dream represents your own soul and self. Specific rooms in the house indicate a specific aspect of your psyche. In general, the attic represents your intellect, the basement represents the unconscious, etc. If the house is empty, then it indicates feelings of insecurity.
I was also crying very hard when I learned that my cousins were selling their beautiful Victorian home in Marshal Michigan and moving away from me. (This did happen, but 10 years ago)

Definition: Dreaming that you are moving away means your desire or need for change. It may also mean an end to a situation or relationship and your are moving on. Alternatively, it indicates your determination and issues regarding dependence/independence.

Definition: Dreaming that you are lost suggests that you have lost your direction in life or that you have lost sight of your goals. You may be feeling worried and insecure about the path you are taking in life. Alternatively, you may be trying to adjust and get accustomed to a new situation in which the rules and conditions are ever changing. Dreaming that someone else is lost, represents unresolved issues or feelings regarding the person that is lost. Consider also what aspect of that person you may have lost within your own self. Perhaps you need to recapture and re-acknowledge those aspects.

Definition: Dreaming that you are crying means a release of negative emotions that is more likely caused by some waking situation rather than the events of the dream itself. Your dream is a way to regain some emotional balance and a way to safely let out your fears and frustrations. In our daily lives, we tend to ignore, deny, or repress our feelings. But in our dream state, our defense mechanisms are no longer on guard and thus allow for the release of such emotions.

Definition: If you see an alligator in your dreams it means that you should be expecting some trouble: treachery, deceit and danger. When you dream that you tamed an alligator, it shows that you have acquired great influence and lots of power. Some cultures give the figure of the alligator some healing power.
Well this alligator was in a huge fish tank and I knew he was too big for it. So I watched him climb out of the tank and hit the floor. I closed the door and locked it.

Basically I think it means I am mourning the loss of myself because I have given up on a situation in my life and I need to move on or forward. I am insecure about moving forward, I have lost my direction. But I really need to move forward.

Insights into the world around us.

Yeah right,
like I have any insights into anything
except stir frying oriental food.
I have been struggling 42 years
with my existence on this earthly realm.
I am no closer to finding out the answers
as I am of ending world poverty.

I speak mostly through poetry
or more correctly Prose,
cause my words to not rhyme,
I find it tiresome
to always try to find just the right word,
when Prose gives you the freedom
to just let it roll off your pen.

Tell Me

How will I ever know?
if the choice I made was right?
Who will tell me
if I did the right thing?

I had no support
in making this decision.
I was all alone,
held captive
by invisible chains
made of steel.
Not wrapped around my heart,
but around my mind and body.

There are certain times when the creativity flows
More than others, usually when I am under stress.
So when I get unusually wordy you will know.

Sometimes I am on top of the world
Flying on eagle’s wings.
Eagle’s Wings

Golden sun,
Shine on my upturned face.

West wind,
Blow the tears from my cheeks
and softly ruffle my hair.

Little stars,
Twinkle and smile at me
from the midnight sky.

Light golden glow of the moon,
Guide my path,
so I can find my way.

Oceans breeze,
Cool me, when things get to heated,

Tiny wild flowers,
in the field, calm me with your light scent.

Snow capped mountains,
Give me the strength to carry on.

Eagle's wings,
Give me speed.

And sometimes I am on the edge of a precipice
Waiting to dive off.

The last Thread

Her shrouded form, is hidden from view.
Behind the ancient oak tree,
With it’s gnarled fingers, reaching into the night.

The dark hood masks
her beautiful auburn hair , and her tear stained face.
Ethereal clouds obscure the radiance
of tonight’s moon. As if refusing to witness
this event, on this hallowed eve.

The fine silver thread symbolizing
the last bit of hope for her future,
dangles from her trembling fingers.

The evening breeze plays with her hair,
as she removes the woolen hood,
Hearing the waves Confidently crashing against the rocks,
as she walks to the edge, gives her courage.

The clouds relinquish the moon’s prophecy.
As she holds her delicate hand up for the offering.

Sobbing quietly as she releases
the last of the fine silver thread.
It catches upon the wind’s current
and is carried over the sharp cliffs
into the sea forever.

Someday I will find all the answers to my questions.
But will it be too late to act upon them.
Or is it a good thing that I can’t.

Take the ride with me!
